Kumta Wildlife department and Pavan Naik successfully rescued a huge monitor lizard. The monitor lizards were hunted for meat. There is a misconception that its meat will improve potency. Now the people are more educated and support wildlife conservation. It is speculated that Shivaji Maharaj soldiers used the monitor lizard to climb the Sinhagad port. The monitor lizard has a very strong grip.
