One day some people were crossing the river Ganga by boat. One of them was a pundit.
"I have read the Vedas."
He asked the passenger nearby, "Do you know anything Vedanta?" That is.
"No, I don't know that."
"Have you not read any philosophies?" Heard that.
"No, I don't know."
The traveler simply stood there while the pundit spoke with pride.
Then a great storm arose. The boat was sinking.
The passenger said, "Pundits, do you have a swim?" Heard that.
The pundit says "I don't swim".
The traveler then said, "I don't know any of these. But I have a swim."
What are the benefits of reading a number of Shastras? One must know how to cross the river.
God is the truth, everything else is untrue.
