One of the museum's most prominent treasures is a statue of Rebecca, written by Italian sculptor Jean-Maria Benzoni. This is one of the four copies produced by the sculptor. The other three are in various American museums.
European art from British, French and Italian schools is on display. Notable artists who have been featured include Canalito, William-Adolphe Baggrio and Francisco Hayes. The furniture store includes pieces from the time of King Louis and Napoleon. Salar Jang collected about 1.2 specimens and 2.2 books and manuscripts, of which only a few are on display in today's museum.
The eastern block contains Japanese artefacts, porcelain specimens, samurai swords and sculptures from China, Japan, Tibet and Burma.

The museum has a famous collection of the Holy Quran in fonts and designs from around the world, written in gold and silver by the Quran. Along with the Arabic Qur'an, there are many other collections of religious books.

The most important watch that attracts a large number of daily viewers, however, is the British bracket watch. It has a mechanical device through which the figure of a small toy sticks out of a wall and hits the gong and then returns to the enclosure every hour.
The Indian Parliament has declared the museum an institution of national importance.
